La Fortuna, San Carlos. Alajuela.

The district of La Fortuna is located in the north-western Costa Rica and belongs to the San Carlos canton in the Alajuela province of Costa Rica. "La Fortuna" means in English "The Fortune". 

This town was founded in the middle of 1930 from people that came from Ciudad Quesada.

There are three origins of the name of La Fortuna, one is due to the fertile lands, the other is due to the tourist attractions and the third came out after the last Arenal Volcano's eruptions, the lava went in the opposite direction of the town.

The extension is 225 square kilometers (87 sq mi) with a total of 15,383 inhabitants and tourist can see the Arenal Vulcano from the town.
